Approximately 45,000 lei in public funds is usually spent by the competent bodies that intervene to deal with bomb threats that turn out to be hoaxes, deputy head of the Chisinau Police Division Silviu Musuc stated in connection with the two bomb hoaxes reported last week, IPN reports.
In the ordinary Monday meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, Silviu Musuc said that a man on March 5 called the 902 service and said that he planted a bomb at trolleybus depot No. 1 in the capital city. Three days later, a teenage boy informed about an explosive device placed at the Metropolitan Cathedral “God’s Birth” in central Chisinau. Both of the bomb scares turned out to be hoaxes. It was calculated that up to 45,000 lei is spent to deal with such cases and the relevant damages should be obtained through court.
Under the law, the intentional misinforming about the preparation of an explosion, arson or other activities that endanger people’s lives and cause considerable damage or other serious consequences is punished with a fine of 27,500 to 42,500 lei, 180 to 240 hours of community service or up to two years in jail.
