About 40 kindergartens to be renovated, equipped with furniture, toys and teaching aids

Approximately 40 Moldovan kindergartners will be renovated, equipped with furniture, toys and teaching aids, while over 1,200 children will have access to education of a high level. A rehabilitation center will be opened at the kindergarten in Ceadir Lunga for children with special needs. For the purpose, the Global Partnership for Education offered Moldova a grant of US$4.4 million that is managed by the World Bank. The project is implemented by the Ministry of Education.

Contacted by IPN, project manager at the Ministry of Education Lia Sclifos said the money is invested in the reform in early education that is implemented by the Ministry. “One of the objectives of the project is to ensure the rural children’s access to education. This implies the renovation of kindergartens and their equipment with all the necessary things. Another objective is to create access to education for children with special needs. There will be opened a center for the physical rehabilitation and educational inclusion of the children with special needs. The third objective is to increase the quality of early education. Reforms will be implemented to prepare the staff of kindergartens by promoting mentor services,” she stated.

Lia Sclifos added that the Ministry of Education announced a tender contest to purchase the necessary equipment, including furniture, toys, books and sports apparatus.

The previous years, the World Bank assisted the Ministry of Education in implementing another two projects in the education sector.
