Approximately 300 poles that support the contact networks of the Chisinau Electronic Transport Company will be replaced this year, the Chisinau City Hall announced following expert inspections after two poles collapsed on the Viaduct in Botanica district last Sunday, IPN reports.
The maintenance of poles all over the municipality, including of lighting bodies, will be ensured.
Functionaries of the General Public Transport and Communications Division said the poles supporting trolleybus contact networks on the Viaduct were set up in the 1980s and the two poles yielded because the metal eroded due to aggressive substances used to maintain roads, primarily in winter.
