About 30 houses of the village Tohatin of municipality Chisinau hve cracks made by slides in one of the 7 active zones of slides of the village. Village mayor Sergiu Cibotaru said that excessive humidity and increase of the level of waters caused the activity of the slides zone of the village. Thus, at the moment, about 6 hectares of land are a real danger. „The zone shows like after a disaster – damaged road, trees aged 30-40 years put on the ground”, Cibotaru mentioned. There are about 60-70 meters and it gets to the houses. In case if the process is not stopped, the houses could be seriously damaged, as about 30 of them have registered cracks of different dimensions. If there is any danger for inhabitants, they will be evacuated to their relatives or at the kindergartens of the village, where there were prepared, in this sense few rooms. Related to situation of this village, specialists of the Institutes Iprocom and Agion, of Municipal Department of Population’s Protection, and local authorities of Tohatin estimated on Friday morning the possibilities to stop the slides in this village. The deputy head of the mentioned department, Aurel Climasevshi, noted that in order to stop the slides it was decided to pomp urgently the water of this zone, and to monitor non-stop the process, it was installed an observer post. Beside this, monitoring the houses was put on the owners, who mare obliged to announce the authorities about the produced changes and deepen of cracks. Aurel Climasevshi said that in parallel there are examined and other active focuses of slides situated in municipality Chisinau, but at the moment no one is so active as that of Tohatin. According to data of the State Association AGeoM, there are registered in Chisinau 88 slides, situated on a surface of 241 hectares. The majority of slides is caused by the antropogenous activity, especially tree cutting and construction of buildings in high places, and increase of water with 4-5 metres compared to the natural one. There are registered in Moldova 16,000 sectors affected by slides, 2,332 of them are active. At the moment, 1,043 localities are affected by slides, 48 of them need to be changed.
