Approximately 28,000 applications for cold-month allowances for the 2017-2018 season were submitted by inhabitants of Chisinau municipality by December 31, 2017. More than 25,500 recipients confirmed their request, while the rest filed new applications, IPN reports, with reference to the municipal administration.

The cold-month allowances are intended for families whose average income for the past 12 months does not exceed 3 000 lei per person. The poor families also benefit from compensations for the higher waste collection tariff and the additionally calculated volume of water.

Last December, as a result of complaints from people, who said that the heat bills didn’t include the provided compensation, in a meeting with representatives of the supplier it was decided that the bills for December will contain the compensation for December and for November as well.

Applications for cold-month allowances can be still submitted. In Botanica, Centru, Rascani and Buiucani districts, applications can be filed to the municipal housing sector managing companies No. 1 – 23. The residents of Ciocana district can go to the district head’s office, while the inhabitants of the suburbs to the local mayor’s offices.

The cold-month allowance represents 40% of the heat bill.
