Approximately 250 trees growing on Stefan cel Mare si Sfant Blvd in Chisinau will be cut down as of this week, IPN reports.
Eliferie Haruta, director of the Green Areas Association, in the February 27 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions, said the trees that will be felled are old, dry and ill. If they manage this spring, depending on temperatures, they will plant tall trees. If not, the planting will be postponed until autumn.
Public Transport Division head Igor Gamretski noted that the works related to wiring and pavement on the main artery of Chisinau begin this week. The works will be performed on the section between the streets Ciuflea and I. Creanga. The works on the electrical system will be executed mainly at night, except for the underground electrics. Therefore, parts of the boulevard will be closed, but the population will be informed about this beforehand. There will be set up tracks for cyclists, tactile sidewalk strips for the blind, etc.
The boulevard is repaired within a project to rehabilitate and modernize six main streets in central Chisinau. The total value of the project is €22 million.
