Approximately 22 kg of a compressed brown substance looking like a drug was found at the Leuseni-Albita customs post. According to the Customs Service, the substance was contained in tinfoil packs hidden in an air compressor that was transported by a bus registered in Moldova, IPN reports.
It was established that the substance belonged to a group specialized in illegally transporting drugs through unaccompanied parcels from Spain and Portugal to Russia, Moldova being transited.
The bus travelled along a Portugal-Moldova route and conveyed 24 passengers, their baggage and unaccompanied parcels. The passengers and the three drivers declared only their personal belongings. The compressor was in the freight section. The drugs were hidden inside it. The substance was sent to the lab for examination.
The Customs Service said it will provide more details when the investigation is completed.
