Approximately 20 social facilities in Chisinau, including schools, nurseries and hospitals will benefit from thermal insulation within a joint project of the Chisinau City Hall and the EBRR and EIB. The project will be implemented in 2017, IPN reports.

Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that this autumn they will sign a financing agreement to the value of €25 million with the external partners. At the first stage of the project, only social facilities will be insulated. In 2018, apartment buildings will also be included in the project.

The institutions that will be thermally insulated within the first phase of the project were chosen according to two main criteria – heat consumption and number of persons present there. The mayor noted that they have worked on this project for two years. In the period, there were collected data about all the buildings in the municipality of Chisinau. A feasibility study and an energy audit of the buildings are now to be carried out.
