Approximately 16,000 persons are waiting for a social home in Chisinau. A municipal commission will be set up to deal with the distribution of dwellings. The information was provided in the January 22 meeting of chiefs of Chisinau services and divisions, IPN reports.

Acting head of the Public Amenities Division Petru Gontea said there are 15 to 25 waiting lists in the district head’s offices of Chisinau. About 16,000 applicants are to be informed about the necessity of updating the files. They will be told what other documents they need to present.

Petru Gontea said the legislation on the provision of social dwellings was approved in 2015, but the regulations on the implementation of the law were agreed by the Government in 2017 only. At municipal level, there will be constituted a commission responsible for the provision of social homes. In this regard, there was prepared a draft decision that is to be approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council.

The lists of the necessary documents and of persons who are waiting for a social home were published on the website of the Chisinau City Hall.
