About 15,000 patients served by Traditional Chinese Medicine Center so far

Approximately 15,000 persons benefited from treatment based on natural Chinese medicines at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Center that was opened at the State University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Nicolae Testemitanu” based on an agreement of cooperation between the governments of the two states.

The University’s rector Ion Ababii, in a conference to sum up the results of the second Moldovan-Chinese project to strengthen the capacities of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Center on January 10, said this is the largest project implemented by the People’s Republic of China in Moldova. Three Chinese medical specialists with a rich experience ensure treatment at the highest international standards by applying traditional acupuncture, manual therapy and phototherapy techniques. The Traditional Chinese Medicine Center ensures access to alternative medical services and traditional Chinese medicine that is recognized worldwide.

“We see that an increasing number of traditional medicines are replaced with natural ones. Also, the contemporary treatment methods are combined with traditional Chinese ones. Since the Center was opened, its specialists have performed over 30,000 procedures, while about 90% of the persons who used the services of the Center are persons able to work,” stated Ion Ababii, noting that the Traditional Chinese Medicine Center also has a medical personnel training basis. Thus, as of this year, the master’s degree students and staff of “Nicolae Testemitanu” University will be able to improve their knowledge in China, while Chinese students will come to Moldova.

Attending the event, China’s Ambassador in Chisinau Zhang Yinghong noted that the People’s Republic of China and Moldova have been partners and friends during many years. Despite the internal changes in the two states, the continuous bilateral cooperation shows the friendship is deep-rooted. The Traditional Chinese Medicine Center offered the Moldovans access to different treatment methods and the Center’s experts have so far served about 15,000 persons, treated sick people and contributed to developing the partnership between China and Moldova.

Mircea Buga, senior state adviser to the Prime Minister in charge of healthcare and social development, said the reactions of those who visited the Center show that this project was a real success, with remarkable results achieved by the whole team. In recognition of the contribution made by the Chinese people to developing medicine in Moldova, Mircea Buga handed over diplomas on behalf of Prime Minister Pavel Filip, IPN reports.
