About 15,000 LED lamps to be installed in quarters of Chisinau

Approximately 15,000 LED lamps will be set up in the yards of 12 apartment buildings located on Trandafirilor St in Chisinau, where 150 socially deprived families live, within a project initiated by the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”. According to the initiators of the project, the new technology will help reduce the electricity bills and will thus contribute to better living conditions, IPN reports.

According to a press release of the Institute, about 230,000 lei will be invested in the lighting of the blocks. 40% of the sum will be provided by “Viitorul” to the dwellers’ association that administers the 12 buildings through an energy efficiency initiative financed by the British foundation World Jewish Relief (WJR). The other part of the sum will represent a loan offered by the company “Microinvest” to the association of dwellers living at 31/5 Trandafirilor St.

“I hope that this pilot-project will attract donors that invest in energy efficiency and will also contribute to strengthening the NGO sector and the business sector of Moldova. We will thus be able to share our experience and good practices so as to make the impact of this project long-lasting,” said the initiative’s coordinator Tatiana Lariusin.

According to the experts, the LED lamps can produce light during up to 25,000 hours, while their consumption is 10-15 lower than that of incandescent lamps.
