About 130,000 people took part in National Wine Day

The 13th National Wine Day brought together a record number of visitors in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau – 130,000 people, including tourists from 37 countries, said the National Office of Vine and Wine. Most of the tourists were from Romania, Russia, the United States, Germany, and Turkey, IPN reports.

During two days, on October 4 and 5, there were sold 95,000 bottles of wine. About 8 tonnes of meat were prepared on barbecues in central Chisinau. The earnings of the 45 wine producers that took part in the holiday came to about 5 million lei. On the occasion of the National Wine Day, there were presented 18 new wines.

Many of the tourists preferred to go to the place where the wine is made. More than 2,000 people went on tours to seven Moldovan wineries.

The National Wine Day was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the National Office of Vine and Wine, the Association of Wine Producers and Exporters of Moldova and USAID CEED II Project.
