About 1,300 students on contract to study on budget-funded places

Approximately 1,300 students admitted on a contract basis will study on budget-funded places in 2017. According to the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, contests to fill budget-funded places were held in 14 public universities, based on the contest average grade calculated as an arithmetic average grade for the winter and summer terms of the 2016-2017 academic year, IPN reports.

The budget-funded places intended for orphan students, students who remained without parental care and persons with severe and accentuated disabilities were kept and were outside the contest.

As many as 4,468 students who pay tuition applied for the 13,720 budget-funded places provided in the contests, as opposed to 9,963 last year. Of these, 1,297 students won a budget-funded place, as against 1,326 in 2016.

Most of the students on contract who obtained a budget-funded place study at the Technical University of Moldova, the Balti University “Alecu Russo” and the State University of Moldova.
