Approximately 130 Moldovan settlements experienced power outages after the hoar frost and strong winds damaged electric power lines. Dorina Cruc, spokeswoman for the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, has told Info-Prim Neo that 126 settlements in 17 districts, mainly in central Moldova, were still in darkness on Saturday morning. Twenty-five villages remained without electrical power in Hancesti district, 18 in Calarasi district, 16 in Straseni district, by 10 in Orhei and Rezina districts. By 5 A.M. the intervention teams reconnected 135 settlements to the electric power supply, including 24 in Ungheni district, 17 in Criuleni district, 12 in Sangerei district. Under the weight of the snow and hoar frost, a part of the roof of the theoretical high school in Varatic village of Rascani district collapsed. There were destroyed 150 slates and 2 cubic meter of lumber. The damage was assessed at over 12,000 lei. All the roads in Moldova are now passable. 105 units of equipment and 320 employees of the specialized services are cleaning the roads and spreading antiskid material.
