About 1,000 fired in Tiraspol since November 2008
Approximately 1,000 jobs have been cut in Tiraspol town since November 2008, Info-Prim-Neo’s correspondent in Transnistria reported, quoting the report of the Employment Center in Tiraspol.
In order to prevent the rise in the number of unemployed, resources will be allocated from the budget for paying salaries to the persons involved in public works such as cutting of old trees, laying out of cemeteries and cleaning of the basements of apartment buildings, the Mayor of Tiraspol Victor Costyrko said.
“A program should be formulated. Every company should submit proposals as regards the carrying out of public works,” he said.
Snejana Cernogor, the director of the Employment Center, said that the employment of workers for public works will have two effects: the works will be performed and persons seriously affected by the crisis will be provided with jobs.
