The surveillance committee of the program to attract remittances to the economy PARE 1+1 approved the financing of 98 investment objects to the value of 19 million lei. The applications for financing were submitted in 2014, IPN reports.
The Ministry of Economy said the accepted projects are from such areas as agriculture, animal breeding, constructions, transport, services and others. Of the total number of companies, 62% work in the agricultural sector, 10% in the processing industry, while 28% in the service sector.
Iulia Iabanji, director of the Organization for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, said the migrant workers who intend to invest remittances in implementing the 98 business projects worked in 14 states, including the EU, CIS and the U.S. Most of the enterprises have the origin of the own capital in Italy and Russia. 53 applications came from migrants who returned home, while 45 businesses were started by relatives of these. Of the 98 entities, 35 were created by farmers.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Octavian Calmac said the PARE 1+1 program is popular with migrant workers and their relatives and the increasing number of applications for financing from these is a conclusive proof. When the program was launched in 2012, there were received 280 applications, but at the end of 2015 the figure rose to 1,598.
The committee decided to launch the collection of applications for financing within the PARE 1+1 program for 2016. According to a study carried out by Organization for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, the program facilitated the access to financing for 612 enterprises that invested 350 million lei intro the economy. Of this sum, 133 million lei represents the value of grants provided within the program.
