Aaron Cook qualifies for Olympic Games

Taekwondo wrestler Aaron Cook has won one more medal for Moldova. At the World Grand Prix Final, the naturalized athlete climbed on to the second step of the winner’s rostrum, IPN reports.

In Mexico, Cook dueled with the best seven wrestlers of the world in the 80kg class. In the first battle, Cook took revenge on Cisse Sallah of the Ivory Coast for the defeat suffered in the final in Moscow. Afterward, he beat Iran’s Masoud Hajizavareh, but lost to Britain’s Lutalo Muhammad 3-7 in the final.

Owing to the second place won at the World Grand Prix Final, Aaron Cook qualified for the Rio Olympics for which 11 Moldovan athletes already qualified. This year, Cook won his first medal for Moldova at a World Championship.
