Poetry recitals, exhibitions, film screenings and other activities are being prepared for January 15, when the National Day of Culture is celebrated. Also, the National Art Museum of Moldova announced that the visiting hours of the exhibition halls will be extended until 10 p.m., IPN reports.
The Ministry of Culture said that the events on Monday will start with laying of flowers at the busts of poet Mihai Eminescu, who was born on January 15, throughout the country. In the capital city, flowers will be laid on the Alley of Classical Writers in the central park of Chisinau.
As a tribute to poet Mihai Eminescu, the National Library of the Republic of Moldova will host an exhibition entitled “Mihai Eminescu. Like an Evening Star I traveled through the world...” starting at 11 a.m.
At 1 p.m., the National Art Museum of Moldova will open a street exhibition dedicated to Romanian poets under the theme “I see poets who wrote a language like a honeycomb”.
At 4 p.m., the Palace of the Republic will host a ceremony to hand over the Culture Awards for 2023. The contest is traditionally organized by the Ministry of Culture and consists of 15 nominations. The current edition contains a new category – “Cultural diplomacy”.
At the Nameless Theatre housed by “Ginta Latina” Center for Culture and Arts, a recital of Eminescu’s poems entitled “Longing for Eminescu” will be given starting at 5 p.m. Entrance is free of charge.
Performances, poetry recitals, launches and other events, organized by the Ministry of Culture and the institutions it manages, will be staged in many other localities of the country.
The National Day of Culture will also be celebrated by a festive meeting entitled “Eminescu in verse and song” - an event organized by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) and the Romanian Academy. Academician-composer Eugen Doga will be the protagonist of the event. The festive meeting will take place in the Azure Hall of ASM starting at 2 p.m.
The National Day of Culture was instituted in April 2012 and aims to promote national culture, authentic cultural values and artistic figures from the field of culture.
