A parliamentary committee chairman will be dismissed, and a deputy committee chairman resigns

The chairman of the parliamentary committee on National Security, Defense and Public Order, Chiril Moţpan, says that tomorrow he will be removed from office, and in his place, the deputy of the Democratic Party group, former minister of internal affairs, Alexandru Jizdan, will be appointed. Chiril Moţpan, deputy of DA Platform ACUM group, made these statements for the IPN Agency.

Chiril Moţpan mentioned that, at the end of his term, he had a meeting with the head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, Peter Michalko. According to him, during the meeting he discussed the situation in the Republic of Moldova, and the European official said that the EU was monitoring the progress in the current state of affairs and that he would insist on reforms in the justice system. Chiril Moţpan states that the European official has expressed concern about the recent developments.

During yesterday's press briefing, Chiril Moţpan said he had a meeting with the deputy head of the United States Mission in Chisinau, Martin McDowell. During the meeting, several topics were discussed, including intensifying the collaboration with the US special services to investigate the banking fraud. There have also been addressed other subjects, such as granting logistical support for the liquidation of pesticide stock on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, the situation in the area with increased security regime and regional dangers. Another topic was the cooperation on the cybercrime segment, including surveillance and interceptions.

In the last period, Chiril Moţpan presented more information about alleged illegalities, including the misappropriation of millions of lei at Mărculești International Airport, surveillance and intercepting the telephone conversations of several activists, journalists, experts, as well as the double identity of the former leader of the Democratic Party,Vladimir Plahotniuc.

An hour ago, the deputy of the PAS group, ACUM bloc, Dumitru Alaiba announced on the social networks that he had resigned from the position of deputy chair of the parliamentary committee on Economy, Budget and Finance. "If the PD and the PSRM have taken over the governance, then they must take it on fully, with all the consequences," wrote Dumitru Alaiba.
