A number of public health facilities in Chisinau to be outfitted with new equipment

New municipal programs in healthcare, including as regards prevention, will be implemented in the municipality of Chisinau. Five Local Medical Associations will be outfitted with modern mamographers, while two medical centers will receive bone X-ray machines. Also, there will be inaugurated the medical imaging unit of Saint Archangel Clinical Hospital, the chief health officer of Chisinau Boris Gîlca announced in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services, IPN reports.

The official noted that the municipality is making effort to build a solid health system with accessible medical services, including in the field of prevention. Therefore, there were developed a number of municipal programs, such as cervical cancer screening through the PAP-test, HIV/AIDS and viral hepatitis prevention in the municipality, especially by preventative and educative actions based on the municipal plan for the prevention of such infections, and dental prosthetics for socially deprived persons.

In particular, Boris Gîlca spoke about mammograms for the early detection of breast cancer. He said that specifications are being worked out for purchasing state-of-the-art mamographers for the five Local Medical Associations. “A mamographer was already installed at the Râșcani Local Medical Association and the screening process will soon start there. By the end of this year, we aim to outfit all the Local Medical Associations with such machines. For the first time, the Ciocana Local Medical Association and the Children’s Clinical Hospital “Valentin Ignatenco” will be supplied with two bone X-ray machines. Over 15 million lei was allocated in total for this project,” stated the chief health officer of Chisinau.

Ahead of the Medical Worker’s and Pharmacist’s Day, the medical imaging unit with the most modern computed tomography machine will be officially opened at Saint Archangel Clinical Hospital at midday on June 15. On that day, health workers are invited to take part in a cultural-artistic event at the Palace of the Republic, starting at 6pm. “We will confer diplomas of gratitude for the whole professional career and for the longest medical career to 18 medical workers,” the mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban said in the meeting.
