A number of parties face penalties for defective financial reporting

Five political parties that haven’t submitted half-yearly financial reports were urged to do it. Another three parties face fines for presenting incomplete reports, IPN reports.

Fines of 9,000 to 15,000 could be imposed on the Party “Moldova’s Patriots”, the Political Party “Patria” and the Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova.

The Political Party “Democracy at Home”, the Political Party “New Historical Option”, the Political Party for Moldova’s Union, the Republican Party of Moldova and the Political Party “Renaissance” haven’t yet presented the half-yearly financial reports.

The Political Party “Democracy at Home” and the Centrist Union of Moldova were requested to present within two weeks the corrected monthly information about their spending from state budget subsides.

The Central Election Commission also asked the State Tax Service to check if the donations of over 75,000 lei received by the Shor Party in the first half of 2018 derive from the taxable incomes obtained by the donors in the given period.

The state subsidies were the main source of financing for parties in the first half of this year. They came to about 20 million lei. These are followed by donations made by private individuals and membership dues, which each of these totaling approximately 13 million lei. In the first half of 2018, 38 parties of the 46 presented financial reports to the CEC. These parties represent 83% of the political organizations registered with the Public Services Agency.
