A new sentence for Mikhail Saakashvili

Former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili was sentenced to four years and six months in prison in the case of illegal crossing of the Georgian border, IPN reports.

According to Эхо Кавказа, the sentence was passed by the Tbilisi Municipal Court. According to the investigation, Saakashvili, who is wanted, entered Georgia illegally on September 29, 2021 and was arrested two days later.

Mikhail Saakashvili is already in detention, serving a six-year jail term in two other cases. Recently, he was given another nine-year prison sentence in the case known as the "jackets case".

In the meantime, the criminal investigation in the events of November 7, 2007 continues. At the same time, the ruling party "Georgian Dream" constituted a parliamentary commission to investigate the crimes committed during the rule of Mikhail Saakashvili.
