Establishing a national holiday dedicated to the language is necessary for the preservation, promotion and protection of the Romanian language. The statement belongs to linguist Vlad Pohilă, who also mentioned that such events dedicated to the national language exist in other countries of the world.
"I don't like those who say that a holiday dedicated to the national language is a Bessarabian phenomenon. There are serious countries, with a deep-rooted national language culture, such as Finland or Spain, where Cervantes Day, dedicated to the Spanish language and literature is celebrated,” said Vlad Pohilă.
The linguist also pointed out that such a holiday constitutes a safeguard for the preservation of the Romanian language in the Republic of Moldova.
