The Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova, led by former Prime Minister Vlad Filat, has launched a solidarity campaign with those affected by the floods in Romania, expressing gratitude for the support offered by this country in the summer of 2010, when the Prut Meadow was severely affected by floods, and thousands of residents from the Hancesti and Cantemir districts suffered, reports IPN.
“Today, the roles have reversed. In the last days of July 2025, the counties of Neamț and Suceava were hit by devastating floods. The rapid floods killed at least three people, forced over 1 000 people to leave their homes, destroyed houses, roads, bridges and vital infrastructure, leaving thousands of people without drinking water, electricity and shelter”, the message conveyed by the formation states.
Through this campaign, the PLDM is collecting donations for disaster victims in the form of non-perishable food, clothing, footwear, blankets, drinking water, hygiene products, as well as financial contributions. All donations can be brought to the party’s headquarters in Chisinau.
“We have a moral duty to stand by them, just as they stood by us when we needed it most. We owe them not only our love, but also tangible support, now, when their suffering is great, and our help can make the difference between despair and hope”, conveyed the PLDM.
