Negotiations without statements

After the discussions have been repeatedly postponed, the leaders of the Alliance for Europeans Integration ultimately met at the head office of the Democratic Party in the afternoon of July 24. On its website, Pro TV channel says that after discussions that lasted for almost two hours, the politicians drove away without making statements for the press. It is not yet known what the three leaders discussed and when these are to meet again.

Contacted by IPN, the press services of the parties neither confirmed nor denied the meeting of the leaders and didn’t provide information about their further actions.

In the evening of July 23, when announcing that Maia Sandu is the PLDM’s candidate for premiership, the Liberal-Democratic leader Vlad Filat said the announcement about the candidate was to be made on July 24, when the nominal composition of the Government was to be made public too.

At least 17 people were killed and 44 injured in Kiev as a result of drone and ballistic missile attacks launched by Russia. According to Ukrainian authorities, the bombings targeted several logistic warehouses, reports IPN.

The air raid alert lasted for over an hour, and the mayor of Kiev, Vitali Klitschko, announced that search and rescue operations are underway, as several missing persons might be under the rubble. The mayor added that firefighters are responding to fires that broke out in warehouses and logistics spaces. The Ukrainian army claims that one of the attacks caused an ammonia leak, and special teams have been dispatched to fix the damage.

Representatives of the air forces have stated that during the attacks, 4 Zircon missiles, 24 Iskander missiles and 115 drones were used, and that the anti-aircraft defense destroyed 98 drones. Ukraine is facing a critical shortage of anti-missile ammunition and insists on receiving more interceptors from allies, including the production license for American Patriot missiles.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that military operations would have targeted seven warehouses in Kiev and on the outskirts of the city used for military purposes. Also, three cargo ships near Odessa would have been attacked, which Russian officials claim would have transported weapons destined for Ukraine.

On the other hand, the Ukrainian army has continued its bombing campaign on Wildberries warehouses in Russia. On Tuesday night into Wednesday, the target was a logistics hub in the Tula region, used among other things for the supply of military equipment, according to Ukraine. This is the 12th warehouse attacked in the past week. The operation was confirmed by the governor of the Russian region, who added that two factories in the area were also targeted by drones.
