Fountain testing in Valea Trandafirilor Park starts

The testing of the public fountain in “Valea Trandafirilor” Park, Botanica sector, starts today, 13 August. Authorities estimate that it could be put into operation later this week or early next week. Thus, people will be able to walk around the water jets, accompanied by music and decorative lighting.

Asked by IPN, Ion Burdiumov, Head of the General Directorate for Housing and Planning, said the planning works of the area adjacent to the fountain are almost completed. Workers are finishing the playground today. Also, the installation of urban furniture will be completed.

The project for the redevelopment of the area adjacent to the artesian fountain envisages the reconstruction of green areas in the neighborhood and of the adjacent land, the renovation of the access roads to the fountain, as well as the special infrastructure for trolleys and persons in wheelchairs.

The project cost amounts to 3.6 million lei, sources are allocated from the municipal budget.

The concept of disinformation will be redefined in the Audiovisual Media Services Code, being described as the intentional dissemination of false information that can affect public order or national security. The provision is found in a bill registered in Parliament by a group of PAS deputies, reports IPN.

The project also provides new obligations for television stations. They will have to broadcast at least 50% of the programs aired between 06:00 AM and 12:00 AM in Romanian or dubbed in Romanian. At the same time, the stations will have to allocate a part of the broadcast time to audiovisual works produced by independent producers from the Republic of Moldova and Europe.

The proposed changes also extend the requirements for media service accessibility for people with disabilities. National and regional providers will be obliged to provide sign language interpretation or subtitles for news bulletins broadcasted during peak audience times, official messages and emergency situations, as well as for at least 10% of the monthly broadcast volume.

According to the project, television and radio music stations will have to include in their programs at least 30% music in Romanian language and a minimum of 20% creations by artists and producers from the Republic of Moldova.

Another provision aims at establishing the regional public media service provider for UTA Gagauzia. The new institution is expected to have a director appointed through a competition for a seven-year term, a supervisory board consisting of five members, and funding from regional budget subsidies and its own revenues.

The Eiffel Tower could be illuminated in the colors of the flag of the Republic of Moldova on the evening of August 27, when 35 years since the proclamation of Independence are celebrated. To carry out the project, an additional 25 thousand euros are needed, and the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in France, Lorina Balteanu, is appealing to business people, entrepreneurs, and supporters of the country to contribute financially, reports IPN.

The initiative is part of the event “Moldova-35 in Paris”, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the French Republic on the Champ de Mars lawn, near the Eiffel Tower. French officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, European and international institutions, members of the Moldovan community in France, as well as citizens from the Republic of Moldova are expected to attend.

The space for the event will be arranged over an area of approximately 4 thousand square meters and will be decorated with 35 traditional Moldovan rugs, symbolizing the 35 years of independence and the cultural heritage of the Republic of Moldova.

According to Ambassador Lorina Balteanu, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has allocated the necessary funds for the organization of the event, including for infrastructure, security and logistics. The cost of illuminating the Eiffel Tower is estimated at around 50 thousand euros. The Paris City Hall has expressed its willingness to cover half of this amount, so that an additional 25 thousand euros need to be collected to carry out the project.

“Therefore, I appeal to businessmen, entrepreneurs and all friends of the Republic of Moldova who share the belief that the image of a country is built through courageous projects and the involvement of those who believe in its future”, declared Lorina Balteanu, as quoted by vipmagazin.md.

The Ambassador clarified that the collected funds will be used exclusively for the financing of the Eiffel Tower’s illumination and assured that the process will be carried out respecting the principle of transparency. Moreover, the diplomat announced that she will personally contribute with 3 thousand euros and encouraged those who support the initiative to join her.

If the project is realized, the Eiffel Tower will be illuminated for the first time in the colors of the flag of the Republic of Moldova. The moment will be synchronized through a video transmission with the events organized in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau, dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of the Independence of the Republic of Moldova.
