From May 1, the public transport journey in Chisinau costs 7 lei

Starting from May 1, a public transport trip in the city of Chisinau costs 7 lei, one leu more. The rates for subscriptions have also increased, by up to 17%, however, those purchased until this date remain valid. The measure is justified by the increase in fuel prices, reports IPN.

For general travelers, the price of the monthly subscription has increased from 234 to 273 lei, the one for three months from 594 to 693 lei and the one for six months from 972 to 1,134 lei.

For students, the monthly subscription has increased from 117 to 136 lei, the one for three months from 297 to 346 lei and the one for six months from 486 to 567 lei. In the case of university students, the rates have climbed from 164 to 191 lei for one month, from 416 to 485 lei for three months and from 680 to 794 lei for six months.

And the prices for subscriptions for education and medical staff have been increased, from 164 to 191 lei for one month, from 416 to 485 lei for three months and from 680 to 794 lei for six months.

The municipal authorities assert that the increase reflects the significant rise in operating costs, especially the price of fuel, which has almost doubled and affected the system’s functioning. At the same time, the municipality points out that the 7 lei fare does not cover the real cost of a trip, especially on suburban routes and if all expenses were included, the price would be considerably higher.

At present, over 300 thousand residents of the city of Chisinau benefit from free public transportation. This applies to 18 categories of people, including retirees, children up to seven years old, students up to the fifth grade, and people with disabilities.

The last adjustment of the fares took place in July 2022, when the price of a trip increased from 2 to 6 lei.

The installation of photovoltaic systems, heat pumps, and batteries for storing electrical energy will require fewer documents and administrative procedures. The Parliament approved in the second reading a bill that simplifies the authorization of these works and establishes rules for the placement of energy storage installations, reports IPN.

One of the changes provides for the inclusion of electric energy storage installations in the category of works carried out in a simplified regime. Thus, for the installation of photovoltaic panels and heat pumps in individual houses, duplexes, terraced houses, blocks, on roofs or facades, project documentation will only be required for the electricity compartment.

The project also sets rules for the installation of storage batteries near photovoltaic parks or other energy, commercial, agricultural or industrial objectives. The technical documentation will be limited to the strictly necessary, and the authorities will not be able to request additional documents without a clear basis.

The technical requirements may include, as appropriate, aspects related to electricity, automation, building resistance, and fire protection. For systems installed in protected areas or near historical monuments, the approval of the authority for the protection of cultural heritage will be necessary.

The authors of the project, deputies of the Action and Solidarity Party, argue that simplifying procedures will accelerate investments in renewable energy and will facilitate the installation of solutions for producing and storing electrical energy.
