The Council of the European Union appointed the German expert Kirsten Joppe as the head of the Community Block’s Partnership Mission in the Republic of Moldova on Wednesday. She will take over the mandate on April 25 from the Romanian diplomat Cosmin Dinescu, reports IPN.

Kirsten Joppe will coordinate the efforts of the civil mission to strengthen the resilience of the Moldovan security sector in the face of hybrid threats and crises. Joppe has over two decades of experience in peace operations and human rights. So far, she has held the position of Deputy Head of Mission and Chief of Staff within EUPM Moldova, a role she took over in November 2024.

Previously, Kirsten Joppe served for over six years within the European Union Advisory Mission in Ukraine, where she coordinated strategic reform, digitization, and anti-corruption efforts. Her international experience also includes leadership roles within the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and the position of country head for Armenia and Azerbaijan within the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The EU Partnership Mission in Moldova was officially launched in May 2023, under the auspices of the common security and defense policy. Its main objective is to support the authorities in Chisinau in crisis management and countering hybrid threats, including cybersecurity and combating disinformation.
