Easter is more than traditions and festive meals. For believers, the celebration of the Resurrection brings hope, forgiveness and spiritual light, says priest Viorel Cojocaru from the “Sfintii Petru si Pavel” Church in Chisinau. He emphasizes that Easter represents the victory of life over death.

“Easter for the Orthodox is the joy of joys. It is the celebration that signifies the victory of life over death. If Christ has risen, we have faith that we too will rise. It is also a form of forgiveness and God’s love”, the cleric related to IPN.

According to this, believers should welcome the Resurrection with communion, confession and reconciliation. He encourages people to forgive and be peacemakers. Easter should not be reduced to food and entertainment, but lived as a celebration of inner peace and self-discovery.

The light brought on Easter night symbolizes the joy of Resurrection and hope for the entire year. The priest explains that this light exists in every church, not just in Jerusalem, and brings the same spiritual charge.

In the current context, the message of the Resurrection is one of joy and liberation from worries. “We are no longer sad, we are no longer upset. We leave everything in God’s care”, emphasizes the priest. Viorel Cojocaru encourages believers to be moderate in all things, to preserve the joy of the Resurrection and to share it with others, until the next Easter.

The state company Arena Nationala SRL, which manages the Chisinau Arena, recorded net losses of 42 million lei in 2025. Although revenues have increased compared to the previous year, they did not cover the company’s expenses, according to financial data published by the Public Property Agency, reports IPN.

In 2025, the National Arena reported revenues of over 40.2 million lei, approximately 14.2 million lei more than in 2024. However, the cost of sales reached 65.3 million lei, which generated a negative financial result.

The company’s losses have been increasing in recent years. In 2024, the National Arena recorded a deficit of 37.5 million lei, and in 2023 – losses of 20.1 million lei.

At the same time, the company increased its share capital, which reached over 1.02 billion lei in 2025. The state, through the Public Property Agency, fully owns the company.

At the end of last year, the net assets of the National Arena were valued at 946.2 million lei, and the company had 84 employees. Financial indicators show a negative profitability: -4.44% for equity and -62.32% for sales revenue.

Individuals aged 65 and over can apply for the National Award for the Elderly

People aged 65 and over can participate in the competition for the National Award for the Elderly “For an active life at any age”, launched by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. The competition rewards performances achieved in fields such as technical-scientific, civic, medicine, entrepreneurship, agriculture, education, sports, information technologies, and cultural-artistic, reports IPN.

According to MMPS, the file must include the candidate’s identification data, curriculum vitae, copy of the identity document, a recommendation letter, and documents demonstrating the performances achieved after reaching the age of 65. A video presentation of no more than one minute is an advantage.

The supporting materials can include diplomas, certificates, published works, evidence of participation in events, letters of appreciation, photos, projects, and other relevant documents.

The files can be submitted until September 1st inclusive, and the laureates will be designated by September 23rd.

The national award for the elderly is granted annually on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons. The laureates will receive a diploma confirming the title and a cash prize.
