The message “WeRemember”, projected on the facade of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova

The message “WeRemember” was projected onto the facade of the Parliament building of the Republic of Moldova on the evening of January 27, as part of the initiative to align with the international campaign to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and to pay tribute to the survivors, reports IPN.

According to the authorities, the action represents a call for solidarity and an appeal to promote a culture of tolerance, to combat racism, anti-Semitism, xenophobia, and other forms of hatred and discrimination.

After the Second World War, the term Holocaust was used to describe the systematic extermination of Jews by the Nazi regime, specifically referring to the genocide in which approximately 6 million Jews were killed between 1933 and 1945.

In Chisinau, the national rally organized on January 27 gathered deputies, ministers, ambassadors, representatives of public authorities and civil society, who observed a moment of silence and laid flowers in memory of the Holocaust victims.

“We are not just talking about a number, but about six million people – children, mothers, fathers, grandparents – each with a name, a story, a dream and a future that was cut short. These are six million lives shattered by hatred, intolerance and dehumanization,” mentioned the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu.

And President Maia Sandu, visiting Strasbourg, sent an online message, emphasizing that the Holocaust is a tragedy whose memory still fills us with horror today. “Six million Jews were killed just because they were Jews, along with Roma, people with disabilities, and other people killed just because they were considered different. A tragedy that began with hatred, exclusion, and complicit silence in the face of suffering,” the head of state highlighted.

This year marks the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the Holocaust on the current territory of Moldova and the establishment of the Ghetto in Chișinău. According to official statements, over 300 thousand people, including Jews, Roma and other civilians, were killed or perished in the Holocaust on the territory of Bessarabia, Bukovina and Transnistria.

The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova condemned the Holocaust in July 2014, adopting a political declaration accepting the Report of the International Commission for the Study of the Holocaust. The declaration condemns any attempt to ignore or deny the Holocaust and pays tribute to its victims and survivors.

The commemoration day for the victims of the Holocaust has been marked in Moldova since 2015, according to a decision approved by Parliament.

Non-domestic consumers in the Republic of Moldova will be able to purchase electricity through an electronic platform launched by the Romanian Commodity Exchange EST Moldova. According to the entity, the new mechanism allows licensed suppliers to participate in procurement procedures in a competitive and transparent framework, reports IPN.

The platform, called the Electric Energy Ring within the available market (Retail), aims to facilitate the meeting of demand with supply, through clear rules and equal treatment for participants. The Ministry of Energy specifies that the mechanism will contribute to the implementation of more efficient and transparent procurement procedures.

According to BRM EST, similar platforms have been used for over two decades in several European Union states, and the new tool responds to the requests of consumers from the Republic of Moldova.

Currently, BRM EST is the only functional commodity exchange in the Republic of Moldova and manages electronic platforms for trading natural gas, petroleum products, construction materials, and other fungible goods.
