The Republic of Moldova is grateful to the European Union and its member states for the constant support provided so far and continues to rely on this to advance to the next stage – opening negotiation clusters for accession to the community bloc and progress based on a meritocratic system. The message was conveyed by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the context of the European Union Foreign Affairs Council meeting, held Monday in Luxembourg, notes IPN.

“We are very pleased to have this opportunity here, in Luxembourg, to interact with our friends and partners on the edge of the recent successes and progress of the Republic of Moldova,” declared the Moldovan official.

Mihai Popsoi highlighted the significant results of the recent parliamentary elections in Chisinau and the firm vote for a European future. “No disinformation campaign or cyber attacks coming from the Kremlin have managed to divert us from the legitimate desire of Moldovan society to be part of the European Union,” declared the Deputy Prime Minister.

The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Moldova expressed his willingness to share the accumulated experience and “lessons learned”. “We are pleased to be able to contribute, so that our other friends and partners do not have to go through what we have gone through. There is a need for closer coordination, closer cooperation, building bridges with the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus, with the Republic of Moldova, as a candidate country, but also with the states of the Eastern Partnership”, added the deputy prime minister.

Mihai Popsoi participated on Monday in the meeting in Luxembourg at the invitation of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, and the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jozef Síkela. The meeting was structured in two sessions: one dedicated to security, which brings together the countries from the Black Sea region and the member states of the European Union, and another dedicated to connectivity, to which the countries from Central Asia also join.
