Moldova invited to accede to the EU convention for the facilitation of trade in goods

The Republic of Moldova is invited to accede to the Convention on simplification of formalities in trade in goods. The decision, communicated by the Council of the European Union on September 25, is appreciated in Chisinau as “a historic step for the Customs Service and for the whole country,” IPN reports.

According to the customs authority, the invitation confirms the firm direction of European integration and the constant efforts to modernize and harmonize with the standards of the European Union.

“It is a moment of pride and responsibility, which demonstrates that we can build a modern, European and trade facilitation-oriented Customs,” said the director of the Customs Service, Alexandru Iacub, quoted in a press release of the institution.

The Republic Of Moldova will be able to become a party to the convention starting with November 1, 2025, by submitting the instrument of accession to the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU.
