With 99.44% of the votes being counted, the Party of Socialists is shown to have gained 31.22% of the poll in the national constituency. This is followed by the electoral bloc ACUM Platform DA and PAS with 26.66% of the ballot, the Democratic Party with 23.73% and the Shor Party with 8.35%. The other parties didn’t pass the 6% election threshold, IPN reports.

For the first time in the Republic of Moldova, the 101 MPs were elected based on the mixed electoral system under which 50 MPs are elected according to party lists in the national constituency, while 51 MPs are elected in 51 single-member constituencies.

In 46 single-member constituencies, the vote count is over. The PDM won 16 seats of MP, as the PSRM did. The candidates of the electoral bloc ACUM DA and PAS won the elections in ten single-member constituencies, while the Shor Party in two constituencies. Independent candidates Alexandr Oleinic and Ion Groza are also among the winners in single-member constituencies.

Towards 5pm, the vote count process went on in two constituencies – No. 38 and No. 48. In constituency No. 48 Transnistrian region, South, there were processed 96% of the vote records. Independent Viorel Melnic gained 62.74% of the vote there. In constituency No. 38 Hâncești, the Democratic Party’s candidate Alexandru Botnari is shown to be the winner with 46.93% of the vote by now, with 97.67% of the votes being counted there.

The vote count continues also in three single-member constituencies abroad. The leaders there are: Maia Sandu (ACUM), Dumitru Alaiba (ACUM), and Gheorghii Para (PSRM).

The Central Election Commission presents the set of documents to the Constitutional Court and the list of MPs within 24 hours of the tabulation of all the results. The CC confirms or denies the legality of the elections by a notice within five days of the receipt of the documents from the CEC.

The February 24 parliamentary elections involved 1 453 013 voters, which is a turnout of 49.22%.
