97% of residential buildings are privately owned

More than 97% of the residential buildings in Moldova are privately owned. On January 1, 2013, Moldova’s housing stock totaled 80.1 million square meters, IPN reports.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the towns in Moldova account for 38.8% of the housing stock. The average dwelling ownership degree is 22.5 square meters. In urban settlements it is 20.9 square meters, while in rural ones – 23.7 square meters.

On January 1, 2013 there were registered 1.3 million apartments. 10.5% were one-room apartments, 32.3% were two-room apartments, 36.2% were three-room apartments, while 21.0% were apartments with four and more rooms.
