About 94 million lei were transferred as subsidies to agricultural producers based on 770 files from February until now, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Agency for Intervention and Payments in Agriculture said the agricultural producers applied for subsidies for purchasing conventional agricultural machinery, building packing houses, buying cold storage facilities for fruit, grapes and vegetables. The producers from Cahul, Hancesti and Orhei districts filed the largest number of applications.

The state subsidizes the building of hothouses, setting up of multiannual plantations, pursing of agricultural machinery, breeding of animals and development of organic farming, promotion of products on markets, development of rural agritourist pensions and creation or extension of handicrafts units, etc. The businesses started by young people and women are also supported.

Applications for subsidies for this year’s campaign started to be received on February 1 and will be accepted until October 31.
