Speaking on the European Integration Agenda, the chapter on fighting corruption, Catrinescu said most of the moves undertaken by the central public authorities had been meant to prevent the phenomenon and focused on improving the management of public services, employing public servants following contests and reducing the systemic factors encouraging corruption.
She mentioned the adoption of the Law on statute of public servant, preparing methodologies to assess risks in ministries, governmental services and agencies, etc.
“A recent evaluation carried out with the UN's support and according to the norms of the Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation has shown that, since 2005, the public procurement system in Moldova has made significant progress in terms of transparency. As for the electronic public procurements a pilot project was to be implemented, but was postponed for he next year because the process is too intricate,” Natalia Catrinescu said.
