The Chisinau government will pay out lump-sum amounts of 700 lei to 8,000 children in the municipality to help them prepare for the upcoming academic year.

Elena Vorotneac, spokesperson for the Education Division, told IPN that the money will be paid from the city’s Population Support Fund. The beneficiaries have been selected based on information from the municipality’s public schools. These are usually children from needy families or otherwise underprivileged.

The money will be dispensed in August and September through Moldincombank, but beneficiaries will be able to take the aid as late as until November.
