800 calls made daily to 112 Service

By about 800 calls were made daily to the 112 Emergency Service during December 25 – January 3. Twenty criminal cases over domestic violence were started in the period, IPN reports.

In a press briefing on January 6, Oleg Rusu, of the National Public Security Inspectorate, said 80% of the committed contraventions and crimes were due to alcohol abuse.

“Given that all the bars and restaurants work only until 10pm and parties after 10pm cannot be held, everyone will party at home and we anticipate that the number of cases of domestic violence will rise now (on Christmas celebrated according to the old calendar, e.n.). We call on all those who know, see and hear about cases of violence to call 112,” said Oleg Rusu.

He recommended the population to obey the anti-COVID-19 measures, such as maintaining of social distancing and wearing of masks, so as not to create a public health danger that can serve as a reason for being held accountable.
