80% of trolleybus stations in Chisinau are damaged
A sum of 3 million lei is needed to repair the trolleybus stations in Chisinau. In Monday’s ordinary meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, the head of the Public Amenities Division Petru Gontea said that 80% of the stations have been destroyed. They do not have either roof, clocks or the glass placed in the area for advertisements, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“240 stations that have been built up recently have been damaged. What should we do now? Should we invest again 3 million lei and experience a similar situation in two years? There is not even one report on the given circumstances,” said Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca.
Petru Gontea also said that there have been destroyed almost 150 garbage bins set up near trolleybus stops. The clocks of half of the stations have been stolen.
Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, Petru Gontea said the stations are managed by the private company Epa Media, which is now undergoing an insolvency process. As the company does no more clean the stops, the Chisinau administration assumed this responsibility itself.
In 2007, the Chisinau City Hall signed a contract with Epa Media for building up 300 trolleybus stations. The Austrian company pledged to set up and administer the stations in exchange for being allowed to place advertisements inside them. But it became insolvent and cannot now clean or repair them.
