About 4,000 police officers and carabineers or 80% of the police staff will maintain public order during the Easter holidays, IPN reports.
Head of the Public Security Division of the General Police Inspectorate Marin Maxian told a news conference that police officers and employees of the Emergencies Service will secure the road to the Metropolitan Cathedral in Chisinau in the evening of April 19, when the Holy Frere will be brought from Jerusalem. The parishioners will have access to the Cathedral’s square through a number of security filters set up with the aim of preventing inebriated persons and persons with firearms from entering the area.
Deputy head of the National Patrolling Inspectorate Grigore Guzun recommended the drivers not to park the units of transport in the immediate vicinity of churches so as not to create traffic congestion and crowdedness.
Deputy head of the Rescuers and Firefighters Division of the Emergencies Service Alexei Lavrinenco said that 120 firefighting vehicles and more than 530 inspectors will ensure security in Chisinau on the night before Easter. A vehicle will be on guard near the Cathedral.
