8-year-old dies after hitting head on pavement

An 8-year-old boy died after he hit his head on the pavement. According to Chisinau Emergency Service accounts, the boy and his mother were staying at a villa near Chisinau's suburban town of Vadul lui Voda. The boy slipped from the second floor of the structure and fell head-down on the paved ground. He was rushed by car to the town, but local doctors were helpless to save his life. Another boy, 7, was found in Dendrarium Park in a critical state caused by sunstroke, malnutrition and dehydration. His mother was too drunk to care that her son was staying in the scorching sun and when he passed out she barely reacted. Witnesses called an ambulance and the police, which took away the child and the mother, respectively. Three persons, ages 47 to 58, experienced heat strokes on Monday, being taken to the hospital. Over the past day and night, the Chisinau Emergency Service responded to 761 calls, including 89 cases of acute viroses, 71 cases of trauma, 21 cases of acute diarrheal diseases, 27 childbirths and 2 brain strokes.
