79% of seeds needed for spring sowing are available

As many as 28,900 tonnes of seeds of the 36,600 tonnes needed for the spring sowing or 79% are available in the national storehouses, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the General Inspectorate for Phytosanitary Supervision and Seed Control, more than half of the stored amount of seeds have been checked and certified until now. Dumitru Rusu, head of the Inspectorate’s Seed Control Division, said that the necessary quantities of oat and lucerne seeds, and of peas and beans are gradually collected from farmers, who are now cleaning the seeds. The rest of the necessary seeds will be imported from Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Hungary. The spring sowing starts in March, when the average temperature is 1-3 degrees Celsius.
