Seventy-eight broadcasters – 43 TV channels and 35 radio stations – announced their intention to cover the campaign that precedes the June 5 local elections. Forty-seven of the 78 broadcasters will organize electoral debates, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Under the regulations, every broadcaster must submit a statement on the editorial policy for the period of the election campaign to the Broadcasting Coordination Council. The deadline was April 15, but we accepted statements until April 18,” Dinu Ciocanu, head of the Council's Monitoring Division, said in a meeting on Tuesday. According to Dinu Ciocanu, six broadcasters announced that they will not cover the election campaign, while another ten did not file statements to inform about their plans. The statements were to be submitted within seven days of the approval of the regulations concerning the covering of the election campaign for the June 5 local elections.
