77 patients with COVID-19 in a serious state

Of the total number of persons diagnosed with COVID-19, 77 are in a serious state. Another 335 patients are in a medium grave state, while the state of health of the others is satisfactory, Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu was quoted by IPN as saying after the meeting of the National Focal Point.

As many as 78 persons with COVID-19, 54 of whom are children, were admitted to the Municipal Children’s Contagious Diseases Hospital. Two infected children and four mothers are receiving treatment at “Emilian Coțaga” Clinic of the Mother and Child Institute.

The number of healthcare workers who contracted the novel coronavirus rose to 257. Of them, 88 are medical assistants, 76 are members of ancillary medical personnel, 70 are doctors, 19 are doctor’s assistants, three are pharmacists and one is a paramedic. As many as 86 cases of infection among healthcare workers were recorded in Soroca, 46 in Ștefan Vodă, 15 in Glodeni. Also, 14 of the medical workers of the National Clinical Hospital, 13 of the Chisinau Emergency Medical Assistance Institute and eight of the Clinical Psychiatry Hospital tested positive for COVID-19.

A state of emergency was declared in Moldova for 60 days on March 17. The novel coronavirus claimed 21 lives in Moldova by now. The fatalities include three doctors.
