1885 households in 4 districts received 754 tons of animal feed. Families whose incomes depend on dairy animals benefit from this aid. The initiative is part of the project "Emergency support for agricultural producers in the context of the socio-economic, climate and energy crisis", IPN reports.
According to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), this aid is available in Taraclia, Rezina, Criuleni and Telenesti districts to households with up to three cows. The small farmers receive 400 kg of animal feed each, which is enough until the beginning of the grazing season, MAIA said.
Around 4 million lei have been invested to cover the feed needs in the four districts. The fodder distributed is of high quality and can increase milk production by 10-30%.
The fodder distribution is part of an emergency support plan initiated in 2022 at the request of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, financially supported by Switzerland, Austria and Japan.
Thus, since 2022, some 23 500 households and smallholder farmers have benefited from various forms of assistance, including maize seeds, fertilizers, wheat seeds, alfalfa, vegetable seeds, potato tubers, equipment for small ruminant farms and machinery for practicing conservative agriculture.
More than 12 000 households in 18 districts have benefited from the fodder. The total investment in feed amounted to about 23 million lei in the period 2022-2025.
