New local elections will take place in 15 Moldovan settlements on May 16. Seventy-five candidates will compete for positions of mayor, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the press service of the Central Election Commission. Fourteen candidates represent the Democratic Party, by ten the Communists Party and the Liberal Democratic Party, while nine the Liberal Party. Among the candidates are also representatives of the Moldova Noastra Alliance, the United Moldova Party, the European Action Movement, the Christian Democratic People's Party, the Social Democratic Party and the sociopolitical movement “New Force” as well as eight independents. The registration of candidates ended on April 22.
