The National House of Social Insurance informs the recipients of all types of pensions lower than 2,000 lei a month and of state social benefits set before January 1, 2020 that they can collect the lump sums of 700 lei in financial assistance as of January 2, 2020, IPN reports.

In a press release, the institution said about 418 million lei is needed for the purpose. The money was earmarked in the 2020 state budget. About 591,000 persons are projected to benefit from such aid. This will be paid by the National House of Social Insurance through payment service providers that ensure the payment of pensions and social benefits.

The uncollected amounts are monthly transferred back by the payment service providers to the House and are included in the payments for the next month. The assistance could be collected by this yearend.
