70 homes flooded in Sarateni, families evacuated to neighboring village

Seventy houses have been flooded in the village of Sarateni, Hancesti district, located along the Prut River. Emergency Service workers on 40 boats are evacuating the people to the school in the neighboring Obileni village, Info-Prim Neo learned from the Service’s spokesperson Liliana Puscasu. In Lipcani, Briceni district, people were evacuated from 11 houses deemed at risk of flooding. In Criva, same district, 55 Emergency Service workers are reinforcing the local dam with 5,000 sand sacks. Other 100 workers are performing similar activities in Drepcauti. However, the level in the dam reservoir at Costesti-Stanca decreased slightly, by 2 centimeters, as the discharge level is kept at 800 cubic meters per second. Tomorrow, July 10, Prime Minister Vlad Filat will travel to northern Moldova where the situation remains alarming. The visit will start at 11:00 with Criva village.
