A child who was in danger of drowning in a pond in Ungheni was saved by rescuers. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the 7-year-old boy was alone on a wooden raft in the middle of the pond and, getting into a panic, he was screaming for help, IPN reports.
The child was noticed by passers-by, who alerted the specialized services. Two teams of rescuers intervened on the spot. They took the child safely to the shore. He did not suffer injuries.
Rescuers urge parents and those who take care of minors to supervise them permanently and not to allow them to go alone to rivers or ponds.
Staying on the surface of waterbodies poses an imminent danger to life and health, especially when the layer of ice is thin.
