7 passengers from overturned bus remain in hospital

Five women and two children, ages 4 and 6, remain in hospital after being involved in a bus crash in Romania earlier this week. One of the women remains hospitalized in the Romanian city of Braila until she is stable. The others have been transported to Moldova over the last few days, a spokesperson for the Service for Emergencies told IPN.

Thirteen passengers were brought back to the country last night. Six of them, in moderate to severe conditions, were transported in three ambulances, accompanied by paramedics, and admitted to the Emergency Hospital in Chisinau. Seven other passengers were returned to the country earlier by the company that owns the overturned bus. They were discharged after medical examinations.

The bodies of the three minors killed in the crash were taken to their families' homes.

The bus, on route from Turkey to Chisinau, was carrying 36 Moldovan nationals when it overturned Wednesday on a rain-slicked road in Braila. Three children, 5, 14 and 15, were killed in the crash. A woman was initially reported killed as well, but the information wasn't confirmed eventually. The driver, a Turkish national, escaped with minor injuries and will face criminal charges after the Romanian authorities initiated proceedings for manslaughter.
